Sediment management in alpine in alpine regions

Sediment transport in alpine rivers is responsible for numerous problems related to reservoir sedimentation, river training works and flood protection. These different subjects are often treated locally, even if they are part of a more global solid transport process. The present publication gives an overview on appropriate solutions for sustainable sediment transit management. Some case studies based on physical and numerical modelling are presented in order to show the concepts generally applied for sediment management in an alpine environement.
