Robot-assisted surgery

Robot-assisted surgery or robotic surgery are any types of surgical procedures that are performed using robotic systems. Robotically assisted surgery was developed to try to overcome the limitations of pre-existing minimally-invasive surgical procedures and to enhance the capabilities of surgeons performing open surgery. In the case of robotically assisted minimally-invasive surgery, instead of the surgeon directly moving the instruments, the surgeon uses one of two methods to perform dissection, hemostasis and resection, using a direct telemanipulator, or through computer control.

Robotique molle

La robotique molle () est un domaine de la robotique. Ce domaine traite des « robots mous » incluant certains types de drones, et construits en matériaux ou structures souples, élastiques ou déformables tels que le silicone, le plastique, le caoutchouc et autres polymères, les tissus, etc., ou des pièces mécaniques déformables utilisées en robotique, par exemple les ressorts, les élastiques ou les absorbeurs de chocs ou de vibrations.

Robot end effector

In robotics, an end effector is the device at the end of a robotic arm, designed to interact with the environment. The exact nature of this device depends on the application of the robot. In the strict definition, which originates from serial robotic manipulators, the end effector means the last link (or end) of the robot. At this endpoint, the tools are attached. In a wider sense, an end effector can be seen as the part of a robot that interacts with the work environment.

Da Vinci (chirurgie)

Un Da Vinci est un robot médical, et plus précisément une machine dirigée par un chirurgien pour réaliser des opérations, principalement au niveau de l'abdomen. Il est vendu par l'entreprise américaine Intuitive Surgical. En avril 2011, elle indiquait que étaient en service dans le monde. Début 2010, il n'existait pas de concurrent au robot Da Vinci. Le Da Vinci est composé de deux parties. La première se situe au-dessus de la personne à opérer et comporte trois (dans sa première version) ou quatre (à partir du modèle Da Vinci S) bras manipulateurs.

Robotique industrielle

vignette|droite|Un robot industriel Kawasaki FS-03N, robot de soudage La robotique industrielle est officiellement définie par l'Organisation Internationale de Normalisation (ISO) comme étant un système commandé automatiquement, multi-applicatif, reprogrammable, polyvalent, manipulateur et programmable sur trois axes ou plus. Les applications typiques incluent les robots de soudage, de peinture et d'assemblage. L'avantage de la robotique industrielle est sa rapidité d'exécution et sa précision ainsi que la répétition de cette précision dans le temps.

Minimally invasive procedure

Minimally invasive procedures (also known as minimally invasive surgeries) encompass surgical techniques that limit the size of incisions needed, thereby reducing wound healing time, associated pain, and risk of infection. Surgery by definition is invasive and many operations requiring incisions of some size are referred to as open surgery. Incisions made during open surgery can sometimes leave large wounds that may be painful and take a long time to heal.

Medical procedure

A medical procedure is a course of action intended to achieve a result in the delivery of healthcare. A medical procedure with the intention of determining, measuring, or diagnosing a patient condition or parameter is also called a medical test. Other common kinds of procedures are therapeutic (i.e., intended to treat, cure, or restore function or structure), such as surgical and physical rehabilitation procedures. "An activity directed at or performed on an individual with the object of improving health, treating disease or injury, or making a diagnosis.

Surgical oncology

Surgical oncology is the branch of surgery applied to oncology; it focuses on the surgical management of tumors, especially cancerous tumors. As one of several modalities in the management of cancer, the specialty of surgical oncology has evolved in steps similar to medical oncology (pharmacotherapy for cancer), which grew out of hematology, and radiation oncology, which grew out of radiology. The Ewing Society known today as the Society of Surgical Oncology was started by surgeons interested in promoting the field of oncology.
