Radiologie interventionnelleLa est une spécialité de la radiologie. Elle désigne l'ensemble des actes médicaux réalisés par des radiologues et sous contrôle radiologique, permettant le traitement ou le diagnostic invasif (examen invasif) de nombreuses pathologies. Le principe de la radiologie interventionnelle est donc d’accéder à une lésion située à l’intérieur de l’organisme pour effectuer un acte diagnostique (prélèvement par exemple) ou thérapeutique (visant à soigner, réparer, refermer...).

The term was coined by Bruce McEwen and Eliot Stellar in 1993. It represents the physiological consequences of chronic exposure to fluctuating or heightened neural or neuroendocrine response which results from repeated or prolonged chronic stress. In the United States, and some other countries, the M.D. denotes a professional degree. This generally arose because many in 18th-century medical professions trained in Scotland, which used the M.D. degree nomenclature. In England, however, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery was used and eventually in the 19th century became the standard in Scotland too.
