IT risk

Information technology risk, IT risk, IT-related risk, or cyber risk is any risk relating to information technology. While information has long been appreciated as a valuable and important asset, the rise of the knowledge economy and the Digital Revolution has led to organizations becoming increasingly dependent on information, information processing and especially IT. Various events or incidents that compromise IT in some way can therefore cause adverse impacts on the organization's business processes or mission, ranging from inconsequential to catastrophic in scale.

AT&T Mobility

AT&T Mobility LLC, anciennement Cingular Wireless LLC,est un opérateur nord-américain spécialisé dans les réseaux de téléphonie mobile ; c'est une filiale du groupe de télécommunications américain AT&T, considéré comme l'opérateur historique du pays. Ce fut au départ une coentreprise créée en 2001 entre SBC Communications (qui s'est renommé entre-temps AT&T, à la suite du rachat de l'ancien opérateur historique : AT&T Corporation) et de BellSouth, détenue à 60 % par le premier et à 40 % par le second.

Local tangent plane coordinates

Local tangent plane coordinates (LTP), also known as local ellipsoidal system, local geodetic coordinate system, or local vertical, local horizontal coordinates (LVLH), are a spatial reference system based on the tangent plane defined by the local vertical direction and the Earth's axis of rotation. It consists of three coordinates: one represents the position along the northern axis, one along the local eastern axis, and one represents the vertical position.

Geographic coordinate conversion

In geodesy, conversion among different geographic coordinate systems is made necessary by the different geographic coordinate systems in use across the world and over time. Coordinate conversion is composed of a number of different types of conversion: format change of geographic coordinates, conversion of coordinate systems, or transformation to different geodetic datums. Geographic coordinate conversion has applications in cartography, surveying, navigation and geographic information systems.

Information Awareness Office

LInformation Awareness Office (IAO), créé par le DARPA en , est un bureau mettant en commun différents projets du DARPA destinés à appliquer les TIC pour contrecarrer des menaces asymétriques à la sécurité nationale américaine. La mission de l'IAO était « Imaginer, développer, appliquer, intégrer, démontrer et évoluer des techniques informatiques, des composantes et des prototypes à l'intérieur de systèmes d'information en boucle fermée qui contrecarreront les menaces asymétriques en obtenant la connaissance complète de l'information.

Extensive-form game

In game theory, an extensive-form game is a specification of a game allowing (as the name suggests) for the explicit representation of a number of key aspects, like the sequencing of players' possible moves, their choices at every decision point, the (possibly imperfect) information each player has about the other player's moves when they make a decision, and their payoffs for all possible game outcomes. Extensive-form games also allow for the representation of incomplete information in the form of chance events modeled as "moves by nature".

Alarm management

Alarm management is the application of human factors and ergonomics along with instrumentation engineering and systems thinking to manage the design of an alarm system to increase its usability. Most often the major usability problem is that there are too many alarms annunciated in a plant upset, commonly referred to as alarm flood (similar to an interrupt storm), since it is so similar to a flood caused by excessive rainfall input with a basically fixed drainage output capacity.

Location-Based Multicast

Le LBM (Location-Based Multicast) est un protocole de communication multicast fondé sur le positionnement, autrement dit c'est un protocole de géocasting. LBM peut utiliser deux modes de fonctionnement. Le premier nécessite de définir une zone de retransmission dans laquelle l’inondation est utilisée pour transmettre les paquets de données jusqu’à la région géocast. Dans ce cas, seuls les nœuds présents physiquement dans cette zone de diffusion propageront l’inondation.

Personal information management (PIM) is the study and implementation of the activities that people perform in order to acquire or create, store, organize, maintain, retrieve, and use informational items such as documents (paper-based and digital), web pages, and email messages for everyday use to complete tasks (work-related or not) and fulfill a person's various roles (as parent, employee, friend, member of community, etc.); it is information management with intrapersonal scope.
