Résumé

BACKGROUND: Prodromal positive psychotic symptoms and anxiety are two strong risk factors for schizophrenia in 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (22q11DS). The analysis of large-scale brain network dynamics during rest is promising to investigate aberrant brain function and identify potentially more reliable biomarkers.

Large-scale brain network

Large-scale brain networks (also known as intrinsic brain networks) are collections of widespread brain regions showing functional connectivity by statistical analysis of the fMRI BOLD signal or other recording methods such as EEG, PET and MEG. An emerging paradigm in neuroscience is that cognitive tasks are performed not by individual brain regions working in isolation but by networks consisting of several discrete brain regions that are said to be "functionally connected".

L’imagerie par résonance magnétique fonctionnelle (IRMf) est une application de l' permettant de visualiser, de manière indirecte, l'activité cérébrale. Il s'agit d'une technique d'imagerie utilisée pour l'étude du fonctionnement du cerveau. Elle consiste à enregistrer des variations hémodynamiques (variation des propriétés du flux sanguin) cérébrales locales minimes, lorsque ces zones sont stimulées.

Le 'cerveau humain' a la même structure générale que le cerveau des autres mammifères, mais il est celui dont la taille relative par rapport au reste du corps est devenue la plus grande au cours de l'évolution. Si la baleine bleue a le cerveau le plus lourd avec contre environ pour celui de l'homme, le coefficient d'encéphalisation humain est le plus élevé et est sept fois supérieur à celui de la moyenne des mammifères.
