Nanopore-based scanning system and method

Nanopore-based scanning system including a probe structure comprising a nanopore; suction means configured to draw an end of a (bio)molecule inside the nanopore and inside the probe structure, single or multiple times; and displacement means configured to mechanically displace the probe structure and the nanopore relative to the one (bio)molecule along a direction following a direction of extension of the (bio)molecule while the (bio)molecule is located inside the nanopore and inside the probe structure, or configured to mechanically displace at least one support holding the (bio)molecule relative to the nanopore along a direction following a direction of extension of the (bio)molecule while holding the at least one support and while the (bio)molecule is located inside the nanopore.

Third-generation sequencing

Third-generation sequencing (also known as long-read sequencing) is a class of DNA sequencing methods currently under active development. Third generation sequencing technologies have the capability to produce substantially longer reads than second generation sequencing, also known as next-generation sequencing. Such an advantage has critical implications for both genome science and the study of biology in general. However, third generation sequencing data have much higher error rates than previous technologies, which can complicate downstream genome assembly and analysis of the resulting data.

Séquençage de l'ADN

L'ordre de chaque bande indique la position d'un nucléotide A,T,C ou G Le séquençage de l'ADN consiste à déterminer l'ordre d'enchaînement des nucléotides pour un fragment d’ADN donné. La séquence d’ADN contient l’information nécessaire aux êtres vivants pour survivre et se reproduire. Déterminer cette séquence est donc utile aussi bien pour les recherches visant à savoir comment vivent les organismes que pour des sujets appliqués.

New Horizons

New Horizons (« Nouveaux Horizons » en français) est une sonde de l'agence spatiale américaine (NASA) dont l'objectif principal est l'étude de la planète naine Pluton et ses satellites, ce qui a été réalisé à la mi-juillet 2015. Après de légères modifications de trajectoire, elle a pu explorer , un autre corps de la ceinture de Kuiper, et pourrait éventuellement en étudier un autre (restant à découvrir). New Horizons est la première mission spatiale qui explore cette région du Système solaire.
