Résumé

In this paper, we review the on-going JPSearch standardization activity. Its goal is to provide a standard for interoperability for image search and retrieval systems. More specifically, JPSearch aims at defining the interfaces and protocols for data exchange between devices and systems.

Recherche d'image par le contenu

La recherche d'image par le contenu (en anglais : content-based image retrieval ou CBIR) est une technique permettant de rechercher des images à partir de ses caractéristiques visuelles, c'est-à-dire induite de leurs pixels. Les images sont classiquement décrites comme rendant compte de leur texture, couleur, forme. Un cas typique d'utilisation est la recherche par l'exemple où l'on souhaite retrouver des images visuellement similaires à un exemple donné en requête.

Recherche d'information

La recherche d'information (RI) est le domaine qui étudie la manière de retrouver des informations dans un corpus. Celui-ci est composé de documents d'une ou plusieurs bases de données, qui sont décrits par un contenu ou les métadonnées associées. Les bases de données peuvent être relationnelles ou non structurées, telles celles mises en réseau par des liens hypertexte comme dans le World Wide Web, l'internet et les intranets. Le contenu des documents peut être du texte, des sons, des images ou des données.

Document retrieval

Document retrieval is defined as the matching of some stated user query against a set of free-text records. These records could be any type of mainly unstructured text, such as newspaper articles, real estate records or paragraphs in a manual. User queries can range from multi-sentence full descriptions of an information need to a few words. Document retrieval is sometimes referred to as, or as a branch of, text retrieval. Text retrieval is a branch of information retrieval where the information is stored primarily in the form of text.
