Résumé

This paper studies the performance of three wellknown regularization techniques to solve the inverse problem encountered in differential microwave imaging for brain stroke applications. Reconstructions from a multi-illumination configuration based on measurement and simulation data of a multilayered spherical head phantom with an inserted anomaly are compared.

Accident vasculaire cérébral

Un accident vasculaire cérébral (AVC), anciennement accident cérébrovasculaire (ACV) et populairement appelé attaque cérébrale, infarctus cérébral ou congestion cérébrale (AVC et ACV étant tous deux des terminologies acceptées), est un déficit neurologique soudain d'origine vasculaire causé par un infarctus ou une hémorragie au niveau du cerveau. Le terme souligne l'aspect soudain ou brutal des symptômes, mais dans la plupart des cas les causes de cette affection sont internes (liées à l'âge, l'alimentation ou l'hygiène de vie, notamment).

National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) is a part of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). It conducts and funds research on brain and nervous system disorders and has a budget of just over US$2.03 billion. The mission of NINDS is "to reduce the burden of neurological disease—a burden borne by every age group, every segment of society, and people all over the world". NINDS has established two major branches for research: an extramural branch that funds studies outside the NIH, and an intramural branch that funds research inside the NIH.

Fond diffus cosmologique

Le fond diffus cosmologique (FDC, ou CMB pour l'anglais cosmic microwave background, « fond cosmique de micro-ondes ») est un rayonnement électromagnétique très homogène observé dans toutes les directions du ciel et dont le pic d'émission est situé dans le domaine des micro-ondes. On le qualifie de diffus parce qu'il ne provient pas d'une ou plusieurs sources localisées, et de cosmologique parce que, selon l'interprétation qu'on en fait, il est présent dans tout l'Univers (le cosmos).
