This lecture demonstrates a chemical equilibrium shift by adding reactants and products, resulting in visible color changes. The equilibrium between cobalt complexes is manipulated by adding yonclerure or water, influencing the color of the solution. The addition of water or yonclerure causes the equilibrium to shift towards products or reactants, respectively. The effect of dilution on the equilibrium is explained using Le Chatelier's principle, where the addition of water indirectly affects the equilibrium via dilution. By comparing the reaction quotient to the equilibrium constant, it is shown that dilution shifts the equilibrium towards the reactants. The lecture concludes by discussing how the effect of dilution is masked by the complexation of yoncleurures when adding the HCl solution.
