This lecture introduces the concept of volumetric printing through a reverse tomography approach, where 2D projection patterns are computed for the object at each angle from 0 to 360 degrees. By sending these patterns to a rotating cylinder containing resin, the object is 'floating in the resin'. The presentation covers reaction kinetics, photo initiator, light intensity, and the transition from single photon printing to volumetric printing. It also discusses the limitations of existing 3D printers and showcases feedback-assisted volumetric printing.
