This lecture discusses the inertial effects in microfluidic systems, focusing on shear- and wall-induced forces on particles at high flow rates. It covers the equilibrium between shear-induced lift force and wall-induced lift force, particle focusing mechanisms, trapping of particles in vortices, and applications in filtering and cell trapping.
