This lecture covers the basics of motion in one dimension, including position, velocity, and acceleration. The instructor introduces the concept of point mass approximation, reference frames, and quantifying motion. The lecture also discusses speed versus velocity, distance versus displacement, and instantaneous velocity and acceleration. Students will learn about the importance of understanding position, velocity, and acceleration as functions of time, and how to interpret graphs representing motion.
