International Law on AI: A Computational-Philosophical Approach

This lecture explores the challenges faced by international law in regulating emerging technologies, focusing on AI. The instructor presents a research project aiming to evaluate and provide a normative backbone to the emerging international law on AI. By analyzing the soft law norms and the impact of AI on existing norms, the lecture aims to draw lessons for improving international law on emerging technologies. The methodology involves a computational-philosophical approach to conceptualize and structure the international law on AI. The lecture also discusses the three-pillars blueprint for international law on emerging technologies, emphasizing procedure, substance, and interpretation. The results of this research project will contribute to theoretical issues in international law and enhance policymaking practices in the technological context.
