Superposed Beams: Sliding and Solutions

This lecture revisits the concept of superposed beams, focusing on the sliding between the beams as a major issue. Different solutions to prevent this sliding are discussed, such as using studs to limit the sliding in mixed steel-concrete structures or employing a high-pressure and high-temperature bonding system for glued-laminated timber beams. The latter method allows for the creation of large dimension beams from relatively young trees, providing an efficient and sustainable use of wood resources.
