This lecture covers the principles of protein-ligand interactions, focusing on binding reactions in biology. Topics include determining binding affinity, energetics of binding, techniques like Isothermal Titration Calorimetry and Fluorescence Polarization, and methods such as Surface Plasmon Resonance. The instructor discusses the thermodynamics and kinetics of binding reactions, as well as the nomenclature and different views on binding. Examples and limitations of techniques like NMR, SPR, and ITC are also presented.
