This lecture covers the pathologic conditions leading to shoulder joint replacement, the types of shoulder replacement, and the role of 3D approaches in shoulder replacement. It discusses the history of shoulder arthroplasty, including Neer I and II prostheses, reverse total shoulder arthroplasty, and the Grammont prosthesis. Anatomic considerations such as glenoid morphology and 3D measurements are explored. Methods to address erosion and subluxation are detailed, including asymmetric glenoid reaming, correction of glenoid version, and head subluxation. The lecture also examines total shoulder arthroplasty with augmented glenoid implants and reverse total shoulder arthroplasty outcomes compared to traditional shoulder arthroplasty.
