This lecture covers the process of tumor angiogenesis, focusing on the formation of tumor-associated blood vessels, the role of VEGFA in angiogenesis, and the differences between tumor and normal blood vessels. It also discusses the regulation of tip/stalk cells, the promotion of angiogenesis by cancer cell growth, and the efficacy of anti-angiogenic therapy. The instructor explains the mechanisms of resistance to anti-angiogenic therapy and the potential rebound effects of extended VEGF(R) blockade. Various factors influencing tumor progression and the importance of vessel maturation are also addressed.
