This lecture discusses the Flagship Initiative, Guardian Angels, aiming to provide intelligent, autonomous systems to assist people in various complex situations throughout their lives. These systems will feature sensing, computation, and communication capabilities, with zero power requirements, focusing on individual health support tools, local monitoring of ambient conditions, and emotional applications. The research will address challenges such as energy-efficient computing and communication, low-power sensing, bio-inspired energy scavenging, and zero-power human-machine interfaces.
