This lecture covers general aspects of pharmacology, focusing on selective targeting in cancer and anti-infective chemotherapy, mechanisms of drug resistance, and harmful effects of drugs. It discusses the relevance of pharmacological strategies, mechanisms of selective targeting, and the increase in tuberculosis incidence. The lecture also delves into tyrosine kinase inhibitors for chronic myelogenous leukemia, mutations in BCR-ABL, and the effectiveness of Axitinib in inhibiting BCR-ABL1(T315I). Furthermore, it explores mechanisms of resistance, drugs affecting noradrenaline synthesis, contexts of drug toxicity, and toxicology studies during drug development. The QT interval in cardiac rhythm and toxicology studies are also addressed.
