Summary

The general aim is to explore novel quantum states of matter induced by strong correlations. This research relies on the analytical and numerical investigation of lattice models of low-dimensional quantum magnetism in the presence of competing interactions or frustration. One of the long-standing open issue in the field is to identify the nature of the quantum spin liquid ground state of the spin-1/2 kagome antiferromagnet. More generally, the goal is to identify simple but realistic models that realize different types of quantum spin liquids (nematic, algebraic, chiral, etc.).
