The PhD Program in Robotics, Control and Intelligent Systems at EPFL aims to educate doctoral students to become leaders in interdisciplinary fields at the convergence of computer science, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering. Students delve into innovative methodologies for synthesizing, analyzing, and controlling cyber-physical systems applied across various domains such as health, environment, mobility, energy, human-machine interaction, and manufacturing. The program equips students with profound knowledge and skills in their specific research area, along with a strong foundation in system-oriented science and engineering. Through collaborations with various international organizations and industrial circles, the program fosters research in industrial and medical robotics, micro-engineering, sensors and actuators, mechatronic systems, software development, optimization methods, and smart manufacturing systems.
