Media and Design Laboratory (ENAC/IC)

The Design and Media Laboratory (LDM) at EPFL is an interdisciplinary research laboratory situated between the School of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering (ENAC) and the School of Computer and Communication Science (I&C). LDM focuses on exploring the impact of digitalization on architecture and contemporary cities by merging physical and virtual environments. Through designing, prototyping, and testing new artifacts, systems, spaces, and experiences, the laboratory delves into the effects of digitalization on urban landscapes. LDM's projects include in-depth analyses of artisan traditions in cities like Kyoto and Gangbuk, aiming to revitalize historical craftsmanship and catalyze the transition to circular economies.
