The Laboratory of Physics of Nanostructures (LPMN) at EPFL focuses on spintronics and novel magnetic materials, particularly in the field of nanostructures. They conduct research on nanostructures like nanowires, exploring their electrical properties and magnetization dynamics. LPMN is known for its pioneering work in spin caloritronics, demonstrating the manipulation of magnetization using heat-driven spin currents. Additionally, the lab is actively involved in the development of dynamic nuclear polarization techniques for NMR studies, with a particular emphasis on high-field applications. LPMN has also collaborated with industry partners to develop passive components for sub-THz signal processing, showcasing their commitment to practical applications of their research.
