The Photonics and Quantum Measurement Laboratory at EPFL focuses on Cross-Quantum Technology, exploring quantum mechanical processes in classical applications and fundamental science. They design and fabricate nanoscale quantum devices using superconducting resonators, nano- and micro-mechanical resonators, and integrated nonlinear photonic chips. The laboratory's research includes nonlinear photonic integrated circuit-based frequency combs, quantum opto- and electro-mechanics, and superconducting circuit quantum optomechanics. They investigate the interaction of light and mechanical motion at the microscale, aiming to achieve quantum control of mechanical oscillators. Their work has led to groundbreaking discoveries in optical frequency combs, enabling advancements in precision measurements, timekeeping, and spectroscopy. The laboratory's research is at the forefront of quantum and nonlinear optics, combining theory with experiments and utilizing low-temperature techniques for quantum manipulation.
