Laboratory of Wave Engineering
LaboratoryThe Wave Engineering Laboratory at EPFL focuses on the fundamental physics of wave emission, propagation, and scattering, with research interests in non-reciprocal and topological wave phenomena, wave-based information technologies, and neuromorphic computing. They create devices to control waves for applications in information processing, sensing, imaging, telecommunications, and energy transfer. Recent achievements include developing an algorithm for training analog neural networks, receiving the prestigious Brillouin medal for work on phonon transport, and being awarded ERC Starting Grants. The lab's work on forcing microwave photons to travel along one-way paths has implications for high-frequency circuits and communication devices.
