The Laboratory of Protein and Cell Engineering at EPFL focuses on the interdisciplinary research areas of computational biology, protein design, and therapeutic systems cell engineering. They work on designing protein systems with novel biosensing and signaling functions for synthetic biology applications, predicting the effects of genetic variations on protein structure for personalized cancer medicine, and rewiring signaling pathways in engineered immune cells to improve cancer immunotherapies. Their computational techniques accurately model and design membrane protein structures and interactions with small molecules, aiming to expand the number of engineered membrane proteins and targeted drug design strategies.
