Karen ScrivenerDe nationalité anglaise, Karen Scrivener est née en 1958. Au cours de sa carrière, ses travaux et sa recherche traitaient des domaines suivants: Identification du développement microstucturale pendant l'hydratation du ciment. Elaboration d'une approche multitechnique pour étudier la microstucture des ciments et bétons, avec accent sur la quantification par analyse des images d'électrons retrodiffusés. Caractérisation de l'auréole de transition de la pâte de ciment autour des granulats. Compréhension des processus de dégardation des bétons, en particulier le gonflement lié à la formation de l'éttringite retardée dans les bétons étuvés.
Franz-Karl ReinhartOriginaire d'Oberdorf (SO), Franz-Karl Reinhart est né à Bassersdorf (ZH) le 12 juillet 1933. Diplômé ingénieur électricien à l'Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Zurich en 1958, il obtient son doctorat ès sciences techniques à l'Institut d'électronique avancée de l'EPFZ en 1962.
En 1963, il est membre du "Technical Staff" du Laboratoire de recherche en électronique à l'état solide chez Bell, à Murray Hill (New Jersey) aux Etats-Unis. Il s'intéresse à l'optique des ondes guidées, particulièrement à la modulation électro-optique dans les guides d'onde à jonction p-n, aux lasers semiconducteurs à injection et à l'optique intégrée monolithique. Depuis mars 1983, il est professeur ordinaire d'optoélectronique à l'Institut de physique appliquée et, depuis octobre 1987, à l'Institut de micro- et optoélectronique de l'EPFL. Il enseigne dans les domaines de l'optique et de la physique du solide. Il a développé les bases d'un laboratoire d'optoélectronique et de supraconductivité à haute température de transition.
Il s'intéresse principalement à la physique des semiconducteurs, à la supraconductivité et aux applications industrielles. Son activité primaire consiste en la préparation et l'étude de nouveaux matériaux et dispositifs quantiques pour les applications en micro- et optoélectronique.

ResearcherID: E-4398-2011 Klaus KernKlaus Kern is Professor of Physics at EPFL and Director and Scientific Member at the Max-Planck-Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart, Germany. He also is Honorary Professor at the University of Konstanz, Germany. His present research interests are in nanoscale science, quantum technology and in microscopy at the atomic limits of space and time. He holds a chemistry degree and PhD from the University of Bonn and a honorary doctors degree from the University of Aalborg. After his doctoral studies he was staff scientist at the Research Center Jülich and visiting scientist at Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill before joining the Faculty of EPFL in 1991 and the Max-Planck-Society in 1998. Professor Kern has authored and coauthored close to 700 scientific publications, which have received nearly 60‘000 citations. He has served frequently on advisory committees to universities, professional societies and institutions and has received numerous scientific awards and honors, including the 2008 Gottfried-Wilhelm-Leibniz Prize and the 2016 Van‘t Hoff Prize. Prof. Kern has also educated a large number of leading scientists in nanoscale physics and chemistry. During the past twenty-five years he has supervised one hundred PhD students and sixty postdoctoral fellows. Today, more than fifty of his former students and postdocs hold prominent faculty positions at Universities around the world.

This internationally known architecture firm has taken over all activities in the domain of urban planning that were previously led at the LAMU-EPFL Laboratory.
The architecture of dl-a, designlab-architecture displays a dedicated commitment to context and sustainability at all levels, transforming these concerns into distinctive and atmospheric buildings. Their projects and buildings have been exhibited (La galerie d’architecture, Paris in 2010, and Istituto Svizzero, Milano in 2019) and widely published (Birkhaüser 1997, 2006, 2019, Archibooks 2010, Infolio 2011 and 2018).
Inès Lamunière was born in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1954. After studying architecture at the EPF Lausanne, where she graduated in 1980, she continued her training in architectural theory and history as a member of the Swiss Institute in Rome, and then became an assistant lecturer at the ETH Zurich under Professor Werner Oechslin. She co-edited the Geneva-based architecture journal Faces - Journal d’architectures from 1989 to 2004.
In 1996, 1999 and 2008 she was Visiting Professor at the Graduate School of Design, Harvard University.
In 1991 she was appointed as adjunct professor, Design Studio Master I-III at ETH Zurich and in 1994, as associate professor in Architecture and Design at EPF Lausanne. In parallel to her teaching and from 2001 to 2018, she set up and directed the research team and laboratory LAMU (Laboratory of Urban Architecture and Mobility – EPFL).
She was Chair of the Department of Architecture, EPFL, from 2008 to 2011 and Member of the Board of ARCHIZOOM, from 2008 to 2012.
She serves as Vice-President of the EPFL WISH Foundation (Women in Sciences and Humanities), from 2006 to 2016. And since 2016, Member of the Board of the Fondation pour le développement des arts et de la culture (FODAC) in Geneva.
