Newton lineIn Euclidean geometry the Newton line is the line that connects the midpoints of the two diagonals in a convex quadrilateral with at most two parallel sides. The line segments and that connect the midpoints of opposite sides (the bimedians) of a convex quadrilateral intersect in a point that lies on the Newton line. This point K bisects the line segment that connects the diagonal midpoints. By Anne's theorem and its converse, any interior point P on the Newton line of a quadrilateral ABCD has the property that where [△ABP] denotes the area of triangle △ABP.
Splitter (geometry)In Euclidean geometry, a splitter is a line segment through one of the vertices of a triangle (that is, a cevian) that bisects the perimeter of the triangle. They are not to be confused with cleavers, which also bisect the perimeter but instead emanate from the midpoint of one of the triangle's sides. The opposite endpoint of a splitter to the chosen triangle vertex lies at the point on the triangle's side where one of the excircles of the triangle is tangent to that side. This point is also called a splitting point of the triangle.
Bicentric quadrilateralIn Euclidean geometry, a bicentric quadrilateral is a convex quadrilateral that has both an incircle and a circumcircle. The radii and centers of these circles are called inradius and circumradius, and incenter and circumcenter respectively. From the definition it follows that bicentric quadrilaterals have all the properties of both tangential quadrilaterals and cyclic quadrilaterals. Other names for these quadrilaterals are chord-tangent quadrilateral and inscribed and circumscribed quadrilateral.
PerspectivityIn geometry and in its applications to drawing, a perspectivity is the formation of an image in a picture plane of a scene viewed from a fixed point. The science of graphical perspective uses perspectivities to make realistic images in proper proportion. According to Kirsti Andersen, the first author to describe perspectivity was Leon Alberti in his De Pictura (1435). In English, Brook Taylor presented his Linear Perspective in 1715, where he explained "Perspective is the Art of drawing on a Plane the Appearances of any Figures, by the Rules of Geometry".
