Amir FirouzehAmir Firouzeh received the B.Sc. degree from the University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran, and the M.Sc. degree from Sharif University, Tehran, in 2009 and 2012, respectively, both in mechanical engineering, and the Ph.D. degree in robotics, control, and intelligent systems from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne, Switzerland, in 2017. He is currently a Research Assistant with the Reconfigurable Robotics Laboratory, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. His research interests include novel sensing, actuation, and manufacturing technologies for soft robots towards their application in inherently compliant wearable devices for safe human interaction.
Heinz HügliHeinz Hügli is professor emeritus at Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL). He was a research director and associate professor at the Institute of Microtechnology, University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland, where he teached and headed the Pattern Recognition Laboratory (PARLAB). From 1988 to 2008, this lab was active in computer vision and pattern recognition with emphasis on early vision processing, industrial inspection, 3D object modeling and recognition.
Heinz Hügli received the Diploma in Electrical Engineering and Ph.D. degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (EPFZ). He spent five year with the Image processing research group at EPFZ and later two years with the Medical Imaging Science Group, University of Southern California. In 1982 he joined the University of Neuchâtel were he first conducted speech recognition activities and then founded the PARLAB. He teached at the University of Neuchâtel, EPFL and University of Bern. Author of more than 150 scientific publications, he has chaired international conferences, was a member of several scientific societies, and participated in several conference program committees.
Tony Alan WoodTony A. Wood received a B.Sc. degree in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering in 2010 and an M.Sc. degree in Robotics, Systems and Control in 2013, both from ETH Zurich, Switzerland. In 2018 he completed a Ph.D. at the Automatic Control Laboratory of ETH Zurich. From 2018 to 2021, he was a Research Fellow in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Melbourne, Australia. He is currently a Scientist in the Systems Control and Multiagent Optimization Research Group (Sycamore) at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. His research interests lie in the fields of optimisation and automatic control with a particular focus on multi-agent systems. The specific topics he investigates include system identification, task allocation, path planning, model predictive control, delay compensation, and formal specification satisfaction for uncertain systems encountered in applications such as energy systems, smart buildings, biology, and robotics.
