Flensburg (ˈflɛnsbʊʁk; Danish and Flensborg; Flensborre; Flansborj) is an independent town (kreisfreie Stadt) in the north of the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. Flensburg is the north of the region of Schleswig. After Kiel and Lübeck, it is the third-largest town in Schleswig-Holstein. The town of Flensburg is divided into 13 communities, which are further divided into 38 statistical areas. Constituent communities have a two-digit number and the statistical areas a three-digit number.
