This lecture covers the process of compiling and testing modfiles in NEURON, focusing on the AMPA and NMDA glutamate receptor models with short-term dynamics. The instructor demonstrates how to use nrnivmodl to compile modfiles, configure synapse parameters, and validate the model's response. Students learn to create and stimulate synapses, record synaptic conductance, and analyze the time course of the conductance. The lecture concludes with configuring different synapse types, such as depressing synapses, and plotting the conductance over time.
