This lecture covers the Rosenow correlation for nucleate boiling, dispersion relation of Rayleigh Taylor instability, stability of a vapor layer, vapor jets/columns, prediction of maximum heat flux, determination of maximum and minimum heat flux, correlations, and comparison with experiments. It discusses the Leidenfrost mechanism, Kelvin-Helmholtz instability of a vortex sheet, and the prediction of bubble growth rate and size in film boiling. The lecture also explores various patterns of bubble departure from horizontal wires, the effect of heater radius on critical wavelengths, and the lifetime of a water droplet on an aluminum plate. It concludes with a comparison of experimental results and predictions in boiling heat transfer.
