Urban Planning vs Urbanism

This lecture discusses the evolution from traditional urban planning, where experts shaped urban spaces, to the emerging urbanism, where citizens play a more active role in shaping urban life. It explores the shift from absolute to relative urbanization, the empowerment of ordinary citizens, and the challenges of spatial justice. The debate on gentrification and the role of public space in promoting sociological diversity are also analyzed, highlighting the diverging perspectives in urban studies.
