This lecture introduces the first principle of thermodynamics, covering topics such as state variables, state functions, thermodynamic systems, enclosure and walls, terminology, and the relationship between processes and changes of state. It also explores extensive and intensive quantities, internal energy, mechanical and thermal power, and provides thermo-mechanical examples.
