This lecture covers the Radiative Transport Equation (RTE) in tissue optics, discussing the dualism of light as both waves and particles, the concept of radiance, photon distribution function, fluence rate, and the RTE itself. The lecture also explains the terms and equations involved in the RTE, such as gains and losses, Gauss' theorem, and different approximation methods for solving the RTE, including analytical and Monte Carlo techniques.
