This lecture explores the potential of urban riverbanks as sites for sustainable neighborhood development, focusing on the challenges and opportunities presented by transitioning neighborhoods near water bodies. It discusses the historical evolution of cities' relationships with water, the current trend of densification within urban areas, and the importance of reevaluating the potential of urban riverbanks for future urban development. The seminar aimed to foster interdisciplinary discussions among doctoral students in architecture, urban planning, urban engineering, geography, and urban sociology interested in sustainable riverfront neighborhoods.
