AirspeedIn aviation, airspeed is the speed of an aircraft relative to the air. Among the common conventions for qualifying airspeed are: Indicated airspeed ("IAS"), what is read on an airspeed gauge connected to a Pitot-static system; Calibrated airspeed ("CAS"), indicated airspeed adjusted for pitot system position and installation error; Equivalent airspeed ("EAS"), calibrated airspeed adjusted for compressibility effects; True airspeed ("TAS"), equivalent airspeed adjusted for air density, and is the speed of the aircraft through the air in which it is flying.
T-tubuleT-tubules (transverse tubules) are extensions of the cell membrane that penetrate into the center of skeletal and cardiac muscle cells. With membranes that contain large concentrations of ion channels, transporters, and pumps, T-tubules permit rapid transmission of the action potential into the cell, and also play an important role in regulating cellular calcium concentration. Through these mechanisms, T-tubules allow heart muscle cells to contract more forcefully by synchronising calcium release from the sarcoplasmic reticulum throughout the cell.
Bernoulli's principleBernoulli's principle is a key concept in fluid dynamics that relates pressure, speed and height. Bernoulli's principle states that an increase in the speed of a fluid occurs simultaneously with a decrease in static pressure or the fluid's potential energy. The principle is named after the Swiss mathematician and physicist Daniel Bernoulli, who published it in his book Hydrodynamica in 1738. Although Bernoulli deduced that pressure decreases when the flow speed increases, it was Leonhard Euler in 1752 who derived Bernoulli's equation in its usual form.
Bridge (instrument)A bridge is a device that supports the strings on a stringed musical instrument and transmits the vibration of those strings to another structural component of the instrument—typically a soundboard, such as the top of a guitar or violin—which transfers the sound to the surrounding air. Depending on the instrument, the bridge may be made of carved wood (violin family instruments, acoustic guitars and some jazz guitars), metal (electric guitars such as the Fender Telecaster) or other materials.
Position errorPosition error is one of the errors affecting the systems in an aircraft for measuring airspeed and altitude. It is not practical or necessary for an aircraft to have an airspeed indicating system and an altitude indicating system that are exactly accurate. A small amount of error is tolerable. It is caused by the location of the static vent that supplies air pressure to the airspeed indicator and altimeter. All aircraft are equipped with a small hole in the surface of the aircraft called the static port.
