Similarity laws for the tubular furnace as a model of a fixed-bed waste incinerator

1999
Journal paper
Abstract

The enrichment with heavy metals of bottom ash from municipal solid waste incinerators limits its sustainable use as a construction material. Part of the heavy metals evaporate during the incineration process. In order to determine the factors influencing the volatility coefficients of the heavy metals, the complex processes in the furnace of an MSW incinerator were simulated in a tubular furnace in batch operation with small quantities of synthetic waste. It was shown that the results obtained from this experimental modeling can be transferred to real systems.
