Dehua porcelainDehua porcelain (), more traditionally known in the West as Blanc de Chine (French for "White from China"), is a type of white Chinese porcelain, made at Dehua in the Fujian province. It has been produced from the Ming dynasty (1368–1644) to the present day. Large quantities arrived in Europe as Chinese export porcelain in the early 18th century and it was copied at Meissen and elsewhere. It was also exported to Japan in large quantities.
Gabriel DelanneFrançois Marie Gabriel Delanne (23 March 1857 – 15 February 1926) was a notable French spiritist, psychical researcher, writer, and electrical engineer. He is best known for his book, "Le Phénomène spirite" (The Spiritist phenomenon). Delanne was born in Paris in 1857. His father, Alexandre Delanne, was a friend of the well-known founder of Spiritism, Allan Kardec, and his mother was an automatic writing medium (Fr: "médium écrivain"). Delanne was one of the principal exponents of Spiritism, apart from Léon Denis after the death of Kardec.
Henri CordierHenri Cordier (8 August 1849 - 16 March 1925) was a French linguist, historian, ethnographer, author, editor and Orientalist. He was President of the Société de Géographie (French, "Geographical Society") in Paris. Cordier was a prominent figure in the development of East Asian and Central Asian scholarship in Europe in the late 19th and early 20th century. Though he had little actual knowledge of the Chinese language, Cordier had a particularly strong impact on the development of Chinese scholarship, and was a mentor of the noted French sinologist Édouard Chavannes.
Corinne Debaine-FrancfortCorinne Debaine-Francfort is a French archaeologist and sinologist, a researcher at the CNRS specialised in the archaeology on Eastern Central Asia (Sinkiang or East Turkestan) and in the protohistory of north-west China. Debaine-Francfort has been a Doctor of Far Eastern studies at Paris Diderot University (Paris 7) since 1989 and research director at CNRS since 1995. She is a member of a team carrying out research on Central Asia. She has taken part in various archaeological expeditions in this region, and in the first Sino-foreign excavation to be authorized by China since 1949.
Conservatoire de ParisThe Conservatoire de Paris (kɔ̃sɛʁvatwaʁ də paʁi), also known as the Paris Conservatory, is a college of music and dance founded in 1795. Officially known as the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP), it is situated in the avenue Jean Jaurès in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, France. The Conservatoire offers instruction in music and dance, drawing on the traditions of the 'French School'.
De dicto and de reDe dicto and de re are two phrases used to mark a distinction in intensional statements, associated with the intensional operators in many such statements. The distinction is used regularly in metaphysics and in philosophy of language. The literal translation of the phrase de dicto is "about what is said", whereas de re translates as "about the thing". The original meaning of the Latin locutions may help to elucidate the living meaning of the phrases, in the distinctions they mark.
Roger Gougenot des MousseauxRoger Gougenot des Mousseaux (1805–1876) was a French writer, antisemite and journalist. In 1860 he wrote La magie au dix-neufième siècle, and in 1864 Les hauts phénomènes de la magie. An ultramontane antisemite, des Mosseaux's Le Juif, le judaïsme et la judaïsation des peuples chrétiens (1869) argued that Jews had manipulated the ideals of the Enlightenment to subvert and destroy Catholic France, and held them responsible for the French Revolution.
Jacques PimpaneauJacques Pimpaneau (12 September 1934 – 2 November 2021) was a French scholar of Chinese. He was Chair of Chinese Language and Literature at INALCO, Paris. A specialist in Chinese language and civilization, Pimpaneau discovered China in 1958. Unlike many intellectuals of his time, he was not fascinated by the Maoist regime. An independent personality, close to situationists and anarchists, he distinguished himself from academic sinology. Pimpaneau studied at Peking University from 1958 to 1960.

Hermann FolHermann Fol (23 July 1845, Saint-Mandé – 13 March 1892) was a Swiss zoologist and the father of modern cytology. After studying medicine and zoology with Ernst Haeckel (1834–1919) at the University of Jena where he was a pupil of François Jules Pictet de la Rive (1809–1872) and René-Édouard Claparède (1832-1871), he accompanied Haeckel on a prolonged scientific journey (1866 and 1867) around the coasts of West Africa and of the Canary Islands.
