Heinrich Georg von BoguslawskiHeinrich Georg von Boguslawski (7 December 1827 in Groß-Rake, near Breslau – 4 May 1884 in Berlin) was a German hydrographer and oceanographer. He was the son of astronomer Palm Heinrich Ludwig von Boguslawski (1789–1851). He studied natural sciences at the University of Breslau, and for many years worked as a schoolteacher in Berlin, Anklam and Stettin. In 1874 he was named section-chief in the hydrographic office of the Admiralty in Berlin.
NeckarThe Neckar (ˈnɛkaʁ) is a river in Germany, mainly flowing through the southwestern state of Baden-Württemberg, with a short section through Hesse. The Neckar is a major right tributary of the Rhine. Rising in the Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis near Schwenningen in the Schwenninger Moos conservation area at a height of above sea level, it passes through Rottweil, Rottenburg am Neckar, Kilchberg, Tübingen, Wernau, Nürtingen, Plochingen, Esslingen, Stuttgart, Ludwigsburg, Marbach, Heilbronn and Heidelberg, before discharging on average of water into the Rhine at Mannheim, at above sea level, making the Neckar its 4th largest tributary, and the 10th largest river in Germany.
Iris ter SchiphorstIris ter Schiphorst (born 22 May 1956) is a German composer and musician. Iris ter Schiphorst was born in Hamburg into a middle-class family, her father a Dutch technician and her mother a German pianist. She describes music as her "second mother tongue" ("zweite Muttersprache"). She began taking piano lessons, initially from her mother, after her early hopes of becoming a dancer were thwarted by injury. She continued her piano studies at the Bremen Musikhochschule from 1973 to 1978, and embarked on a busy schedule of concert performances.
