Abstract

Conçue dans ses traits essentiels en 1957, l'architecture du Palais des Congrès de Bienne s'impose sur la scène architecturale suisse exactement au moment où la réflexion sur la forme et sa relation avec les matériaux utilisés et montrés dans leur état brut, est très intense. Elle puise à expérience internationale et montre le chemin qui conduit à réalisations d'inspiration corbusierienne telles que celle du bâtiment Zur Palme de Haefeli, Moser, Steiger où même aux églises en béton apparent de Walter Maria Förderer. Cependant le bâtiment de Schlup est un unicum monumentale qui s'échappe à certaines logiques d'industrialisation de la construction et revendique la recherche et l'expérience artisanale de chantier.
