Louise BédardLouise Bédard (born 1955) is a Canadian dancer, choreographer and teacher who is active on the contemporary dance. After completing her dance training, notably with Groupe Nouvelle Aire, Louise Bédard was quickly noticed as a talented performer. During the 1980s, she collaborated with many choreographers, among them Jean-Pierre Perreault, Paul-André Fortier, Ginette Laurin, Jeanne Renaud, Sylvain Émard. Already in 1984, Bédard was awarded the Canada Council’s Jacqueline-Lemieux Award, for her outstanding work.
Warszawianka (1831)"Warszawianka 1831 roku", "La Varsovienne" ("The Varsovian 1831") is a Polish patriotic song written by Casimir François Delavigne with music by Karol Kurpiński. The song was written in support of the November Uprising of 1830–1831. The French poet Casimir Delavigne was fascinated and inspired by the news of the uprising making its way to Paris and wrote the words, which were translated into Polish by the historian, journalist, and poet Karol Sienkiewicz (great-uncle of novelist Henryk Sienkiewicz).
Fernand SabattéFernand Sabatté was a French painter and sculptor who is best known for his architectural painting and portrait work, as well as salvaging church monuments and bombed out churches in the zone rouge during World War I. He was born in Aiguillon, Lot-et-Garonne 14 May 1874. Sabatté's parents separated in 1880 and he moved with his mother to Bordeaux. Having studied at the École des Beaux-Arts, in 1893 he began working there in the studio of Gustave Moreau. At his first exhibition at the Paris Salon, a portrait of his grandmother was purchased by the state.
