This article analyzes the episode of the demolition of the historical National Theatre of Tirana in 2020, which will be replaced by a new building and by residential luxury housing towers. The text focuses on the dialectical relationship between the building and the movements of activists who at that time were against these. However, in recent years many of them, so radical supporters of heritage preservation, have changed their minds, representing an interesting point of inquiry for understanding the role of architecture and politics.
