The Mathematical Analysis Chair, Calculus of Variations and PDEs (AMCV) at EPFL conducts research on the Analysis of Partial Differential Equations, Calculus of Variations, and Geometric Measure Theory. The group focuses on mathematical models in fluid dynamics, kinetic equations, and meteorology. Prof. Maria Colombo, a Full Professor of Mathematics, leads the group and has received the prestigious 2022 Peter Lax award. The research includes topics such as nonlinear inviscid damping, stability estimates for singular SDEs, and global regularity for nonlinear wave equations. The unit also organizes events like analysis seminars and summer schools on deterministic and random features of fluids.
