The Laboratory of Distributed Computing (DCL) at EPFL focuses on the theory and practice of distributed computing, with recent work on scalable implementations of cryptocurrencies, distributed machine learning, and distributed algorithms for new technologies. The lab offers opportunities for PhD students and PostDocs in concurrent and distributed computing. Research projects include robust sparse voting, planetary-scale Byzantine fault tolerance, epidemic learning, and robust distributed learning. DCL also teaches courses on concurrent algorithms and distributed algorithms, and offers master projects in areas such as designing new cryptocurrency systems and tackling data heterogeneity in Byzantine-robust machine learning.
