Embedded Systems Laboratory

The Laboratory of Shipping Systems (ESL) at EPFL focuses on embedded systems, particularly in the realm of wearable healthcare devices. They collaborate with the neurology department of CHUV to develop a Wear OS application for monitoring people with epilepsy. Their research spans various areas such as sustainable computing, energy-efficient computing, and federated machine learning. ESL is actively involved in projects like DIGIPREDICT for cardiovascular conditions and UrbanTwin for climate action. They also work on AI-enabled applications, in-memory computing architectures, and real-time detection of epileptic seizures.
