The Distributed Intelligent Systems and Algorithms Laboratory (DISAL) at EPFL focuses on developing methodologies for distributed, intelligent systems, with a special emphasis on cyber-physical systems like multi-robot systems, sensor networks, and intelligent vehicles. DISAL's research involves expertise in mechatronic hardware design, algorithm development, control methods, machine learning, and optimization techniques. The laboratory collaborates with various EPFL centers and has inherited research activities from renowned groups like the Swarm-Intelligent Systems Group (SWIS) and the Collective Robotics Group (CORO). DISAL's teaching mission includes disseminating methods for synthesizing and analyzing cyber-physical systems, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and training engineers with diverse backgrounds for environmental, civil, or architectural applications.
