The PhD Program in Science and Materials Engineering at EPFL focuses on investigating, understanding, and engineering the relations between microstructure, synthesis, properties, and performance of various materials. It covers a wide range of materials including metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites for applications in fields such as nano-scale devices, aircraft turbines, and biomedical devices. The program is highly interdisciplinary, involving laboratories from different EPFL institutes and research areas like metallurgy, ceramics, polymers, construction materials, and biomaterials.
