The Research Laboratory in Extreme Environments - Ingvar Kamprad (EERL) at EPFL focuses on understanding the impact of climate change on extreme environments, particularly polar and alpine regions. By conducting field studies and integrating atmospheric science, the lab aims to characterize processes influenced by humans versus natural changes. EERL's research projects, such as MOSAiC and GreenFjord, delve into Arctic climate change, sea ice interactions, and Greenlandic ecosystems. Through in situ measurements and data analysis, the lab addresses uncertainties in predicting the fate of extreme environments, crucial for designing mitigation and adaptation strategies.
