Laboratory of Photonic Materials and Fibre Devices

The Laboratory of Photonic Fiber and Materials (FIMAP) at EPFL, part of the Institute of Materials, focuses on fundamental and applied research in photonic devices and fiber technology. Their innovative research includes developing materials processing approaches and novel device architectures for micro- and nanostructure-based photonic devices. FIMAP explores multi-material fibers integrating various functionalities like optic, optoelectronic, and acoustic properties. They study material processes, optical properties, and optoelectronic properties of devices, aiming to propose solutions in energy harvesting, saving, storage, sensing, monitoring, healthcare, and smart fabrics.
